About the design
Three Highland cattle have found a very small Christmas tree growing in the snow, and they're delighted with it. The trouble is the fringe. Every time the big one leans in for a proper look, that magnificent shaggy forelock sweeps the snow straight off the branches. It's called Hairy Christmas, and it's set in a Highland glen at sunset, with low gold light across the hills.
Highland cattle are one of the oldest breeds in Britain and are built for exactly this sort of weather. They have a double coat, a soft downy layer underneath and long, oily outer hair on top, which lets them live outdoors through a Scottish winter. The famous fringe, sometimes called a dossan, helps keep their eyes clear of wind, rain and flies. Those wide horns grow on cows as well as bulls.
If you know someone with a highland cow cushion, a highland cow print on the wall or a camera roll full of hairy coos from a holiday in Scotland, this is the card to send. It's also one of our most cheerful designs for farming families and anyone who loves the Highlands.
What's in the pack

Each pack contains 10 copies of Hairy Christmas: 5 × 7 inch (127 × 178 mm) gloss greeting cards printed on 280gsm card, each with “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” printed inside and its own kraft envelope. The pack is £16.99 and UK delivery is free.
Every pack is printed to order by our printer here in the UK and sent by standard post. Most orders arrive within about a week, and Etsy shows a delivery estimate for your postcode before you buy. For Christmas, we suggest ordering by 14 December; that's a provisional date, so earlier is safer. Sending your cards yourself? Our guide to last posting dates for Christmas 2026 has the Royal Mail deadlines.
